Southampton fans have taken to Twitter in fury after it was revealed that supporters hoping to travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch the FA Cup replay would have to pay £25 a ticket, despite Spurs fans only being charged £10 to come to St Mary’s and watch the fourth round tie on Saturday.
Heung-min Son opened the scoring at St Mary’s in the FA Cup meeting between Ralph Hasenhuttl and Jose Mourinho’s respective teams, although a late equaliser from Sofiane Boufal means that it will take a replay in north London to separate the two sides.
Now, while Tottenham’s stadium is a freshly-built, state-of-the-art arena, it is certainly unfair of them to charge Southampton fans £15m more than the Saints charged Spurs supporters to come to St Mary’s.
Understandably, it is a decision that has not gone down too well with the Southampton fans on Twitter, who were left fuming after hearing of Tottenham’s price list for the FA Cup replay.
To add further insult to injury, Hasenhuttl was also left unhappy with the result, as a replay means that his side can no longer enjoy their winter break without a game to think about.
Let’s see what the fans on Twitter have been saying…
To kick off the reaction, these two fans named Andrew and Ryan were livid with the news.
Andrew said that it was “disgraceful and greedy” from the north Londoners, whereas Ryan also said that it was “disgraceful” before adding that the pricing is “actually embarrassing”.
Elsewhere, Richard and The Saint Centre were also seething.
Richard called Daniel Levy and Spurs “greedy” whereas The Saint Centre said “shame on you” – it really isn’t a fair situation with all things considered.
Lastly, Yasmin used the ‘eye-roll’ emoji to express her disgust at the news, stating that it was “not really fair”.
Saint Anon then simply told Spurs to “get in the bin” after learning of what they did – you can’t blame this fan for thinking such a thought.
Who is that?! Nobody has been able to name the teams all of these obscure managers were once in charge of…
In other news, this update from David Ornstein could be considered bad news for Yan Valery…
