Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has distanced himself from a summer switch to the Premier League by claiming that his agent is not in England to discuss a move.
The Brazilian international has been linked with both Chelsea and Tottenham of late, and recent reports suggested that his representative, Giuliano Burtolucci, had travelled to London to discuss a transfer with the clubs.
However, Paulinho says that this is not the case, and that he is not thinking about leaving his homeland.
“He is not negotiating. Giuliano has many clients. I am not the only one,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.
“He is in England, admittedly, but he works for many players.
“They say that Giuliano is working for me to leave Corinthians, but that is not the case.
“He has his work with other players and I don’t understand why people persist with this story.”
The 24-year-old has been on the radar of a number of top European clubs for some time, having been impressive at both club and international level during the past few seasons.
Chelsea were thought to be ahead in the race, but Tottenham have now emerged as strong candidates, with manager Andre Villas-Boas keen to add the midfielder to his ranks ahead of the new campaign.
Will Paulinho join a Premier League side? And could he be a success in England?
